If you are freelancing and providing web services, beware of StarRugs.com and owner Dave Walens, also involved with parent Brumark.com
One of the problems with many services provided for internet clients is not just the arcane nature of that work. Most of that work is intangible, it's not physical product. If starrugs.com orders stuff and doesn't pay, we can in theory ask for our stuff back.
But if your product is knowledge, and that knowledge is passed on and not paid for, what can we do? In the case of TNG/Earthling, their "product" is a knowledge based service. It is their expertise that is valuable - that's why they have a large and global reach within their clientele.
"This dispute is significant because the claims made by Starrugs and Dave Walens do not hold up when all the forensics are in." Bob Sakayama is the principal at TNG/E and the one who personally dealt with Walens. "He claims that he never had the advance information on the costs. But we have many emails proving that these costs were acknowledged. We even reduced our retainer in that negotiation, so the ignorance is convenient."
What we do know is that Brumark never paid TNG/Earthling for the research performed on their target sets. "Why are the targets being used on starrugs.com lining up so perfectly with our research?"
